The funeral director needs to meet the needs of
those they serve, not necessarily their wants. Counseling involves listening,
hearing, understanding and communicating with the client. It also includes a
professional responsibility to those they serve to support the social, psychological,
ritualistic and community needs that a funeral provides. This presentation will
focus on meeting the needs of those funeral directors serve and ways to counsel
the bereaved.
